I am always paranoid about taking pictures at swim, but I snapped a few terrible ones last night. More for record than anything. She is doing really good! She likes to be dunked under water and blows bubbles. The only thing she is nervous about is sticking her face forward into the water and jumping in.

Suminagashi
...or Paper Marbling.
From Wikipedia:
Paper marbling is a method of aqueous surface design, which can produce patterns similar to smooth marble or other stone. The patterns are the result of color floated on either plain water or a viscous solution known as size, and then carefully transferred to an absorbent surface, such as paper or fabric.
I ordered my inks and through a crazy mishap actually got them for free! Yippee!

#tbt
Let's throwback to last Friday to get this blog up to date. The rare corpse flower bloomed at Volunteer Park Conservatory. This only happens every 6-8 years and the bloom only lasts for 24-48 hours. Another friend went in the evening and the flower had already changed drastically.
Volunteer Park Conservatory
The Corpse Flower
(y'know it's aroma was not overpowering, however Lily disagreed and plugged her nose)
On a side note, Volunteer Park is awesome and we will be going back to just hang out and picnic and play.
Stained glass window treatment...
Lily loves to craft and make art. I mean this girl is serious. So, to keep up with her takes some effort. Currently we are working on 9 window panes of wax paper covered with tissue paper and liquid starch which creates this awesome stained glass effect when placed in sunlight. I will post a pic of the final installation once it's complete...

Meet Lily
Meet Lily.
She's a risk taking, adventure loving, ridiculously happy, almost five year old, Pre-K student recently turned dropout. Long story short we (being me, Melissa(hi!)-her mom, and Lily) are beginning a year long adventure together before she enters full day Kindergarten. This blog will be our way to document and remember all the fantastic photo memories that might otherwise get squished into the dark depths of my hard drive. This will be more photojournalistic than bloggy, but we will make sure Lily gets a word in here and there.
Lets start with a few of her favorite things...as of 5:30pm tonight...
Favorite Color? Pink
Favorite Day? Taco Tuesday
Favorite Animal? Lion
Favorite TV show? Pokemon!
Favorite word? Love.
See you tomorrow with some photo updates!
